Take to the court in a setting ideal for all levels of play.

The centerpieces of Highland’s Tennis Facilities are the six magnificent clay courts. The Tennis house is fully staffed during the playing hours and features a range of equipment.

Activities are available for players of all ages and levels of play, with lessons offered for everyone in a group setting or individual setting. There are many events planned for kids including Interclub Meets, Parent-Child Tourney and challenge boards. Junior Tennis events are planned around Pool and Junior Golf activities so that Highland children can take advantage of all available sports.

Paddle enthusiasts will find Highland’s Platform Tennis Facility an excellent way to keep that competitive edge all year round.

Summer Adult Programs

Instructional Clinic


This program is for first time players or those with limited instruction. The goal of this program is to teach each player how to hit the ball correctly by developing a sound technical stroke foundation for each stroke. All fundamentals of the game will be addressed (i.e. correct grips, parts of the court and scoring). This program is focused on personal improvement and enjoying your tennis experience. 


Drill Clinic


Women’s 2.5/3.0 Clinic                                      

This program is for players with some previous playing, clinic or lesson experience. Players must be able to keep a rally going, serve and play points. The goal of this program is to evaluate and develop individual stroke production in a drills setting. Coached play, shot selection, strategy and tactics will be emphasized. This program is also for players wanting to pursue playing indoor tennis on an “X” or “Q” team in the CIWITL league during the winter or USTA summer league tennis in the future.

Women’s 3.5 + Clinic                                          

This program is for all 3.5 + players who are currently playing or wish to play league tennis; both USTA or indoor CIWITL who want to continue to develop their play in a competitive environment. Competitive drill, point play and match practice will be emphasized. Shot selection, match strategies and tactics will be discussed.
 

Cardio Tennis


This program is for any person looking for a great new way to get into shape and burn calories. This program is for all ranges of ability levels, including first time players. Includes a warm-up, cardio workout and cool down phase. Drills and activities creating an ultimate high-energy workout will be emphasized.
Note: Tuesday 10:00-11:00am there will be childcare available ($5 per kid).

 


 

Summer Junior Programs


Highland GCC Quickstart 10 & under Program (All levels)

 
Quickstart tennis is a program introduced by the USTA that follows the same logic as other youth sports which use kid sized playing areas and kid-sized equipment. Smaller rackets, 3 different levels of balls and smaller tennis court dimensions make learning tennis fun and each child can master skills and progress at their own pace.


Tots: 4-5   (Class Minimum = 4)

 
The goal of this program is to teach each child how to hit the ball and to have fun doing it. Emphasis will be placed on hand-eye coordination, balance and agility. The goal for each child is to be introduced to tennis and to have fun playing. Daily/weekly prizes and popsicles.
              


Jr. Challengers: 6/7/8  (Class Minimum = 5)

 
The goal of this program is to teach each child how to hit the ball correctly by building a sound technical stroke foundation. All fundamentals of the game will be addressed (i.e. correct grips, parts of the court and scoring.) The goal for each child is to become successful in playing half-court tennis, to understand the basic fundamentals of the game and to have a better understanding of each stroke. Daily/weekly prizes and popsicles.
 


Jr. Pro: 9/10 (Class Minimum = 5)

 
The goal of this program is to teach each child how to hit the ball correctly by building a sound technical stroke foundation. All fundamentals of the game will be addressed (i.e. correct grips, parts of the court and scoring.) The goal for each child is to become successful in keeping the ball in play and beginning to play matches. Each child will be able to serve the ball, rally and volley with good technique. Stroke production, drills and coached play will be emphasized. Daily/weekly prizes and popsicles.
 


11 – 18 (Class Minimum = 5)

 
The goal of this program is to teach each child how to hit the ball correctly by building a sound technical stroke foundation. All fundamentals of the game will be addressed (i.e. correct grips, parts of the court and scoring.) The goal for each child is to become successful in keeping the ball in play and beginning to play full matches. Each child will be able to serve the ball, rally and volley with good technique. Stroke production, drills and coached play will be emphasized. Shot selection, tactics and strategy will also be discussed.
  


Highland Junior Team (10 +)

 
The Highland junior team program is for players able to serve, rally and play points. No previous competitive playing experience is required. This program is for the player wanting to represent Highland GCC in matches against other surrounding Indianapolis programs and develop their game in a structured environment focused on having fun whilst working hard! The program will emphasize stroke production, shot selection and match strategies as well as conditioning, basic performance nutrition, mental training and goal setting. Friday practice will typically focus on fun games/drills and round-robin inter-team play.
