The Mike Petrie Golf Academy

From conception to execution, the Mike Petrie Golf Academy was designed to provide advanced technical instruction in an environment built specifically for learning, practice, and player development. A defining feature of the Academy is the ability to work on virtually every aspect of your golf game year-round, regardless of the weather. This commitment to exceptional facilities and instruction has earned the Mike Petrie Golf Academy national recognition from the Golf Range Association of America (GRAA) as a “Top 50 Private Range.”

From its year-round practice bays and expansive Short Game Room to its advanced TrackMan technology, private instruction and fitting facilities, simulators, and welcoming lounge, every element of the Academy has been designed to create an unparalleled golf experience under one roof. Practice Bays

Four private, heated practice bays provide Highland golfers with the ability to work on their game comfortably throughout the year, regardless of the weather outside. Each bay opens directly onto the practice range, allowing players to hit full shots and see the complete ball flight rather than relying solely on simulated results. This creates a more natural and productive practice experience while still offering the comfort and convenience of a protected, climate-controlled environment during colder months.

 

Short Game Room

The Academy’s impressive 3,200-square-foot Short Game Room is carefully contoured and professionally turfed to provide golfers with an exceptionally realistic indoor practice experience. Designed to replicate the variety and feel of an outdoor short-game area, the space allows players to sharpen their putting from distances of up to 60 feet while also practicing a wide range of chip and pitch shots from 20 yards and in. Multiple slopes, contours, and lies give golfers the opportunity to practice the types of shots they encounter on the course, making it possible to develop touch, feel, and confidence around the greens throughout the entire year.

TrackMan Golf Simulators

The Academy features two state-of-the-art indoor simulator bays, each equipped with TrackMan 4 launch monitor technology and E6 simulator software. Golfers can enjoy a realistic virtual round on more than 20 renowned courses from around the world, making the bays as entertaining as they are valuable for training. For those focused on improvement, TrackMan provides detailed feedback on ball flight, club delivery, swing characteristics, and other key performance data, giving players and instructors the information needed to identify areas for improvement and refine technique. Whether enjoying a round with friends or working seriously on a specific part of the game, the simulator bays provide a powerful year-round resource for practice, instruction, and player development.

Highlanders can keep their game sharp all year long with the TrackMan simulators at the Mike Petrie Golf Academy, offering the opportunity to play virtual rounds on renowned courses from around the world. During the winter months, members can also join Highland’s Simulator Golf League, a 10-week competition featuring two-person teams, flexible weekly scheduling, and a different championship-caliber course each week. It’s a fun, social way to stay connected, enjoy a little friendly competition, and keep playing even when the Indiana weather keeps everyone off the course.

Private Instruction & Fitting Bay

The Academy also includes a separate 600-square-foot private instruction and club-fitting bay, designed to provide golfers with a focused, one-on-one environment for detailed swing analysis and personalized improvement. Equipped with TrackMan 4 launch monitor technology and a high-speed three-camera video system, the space allows instructors to evaluate the golf swing from multiple angles while capturing precise club and ball-flight data. This combination of advanced technology and individualized instruction provides golfers with clear, accurate feedback that can be used to fine-tune technique, optimize equipment, and build a more consistent and effective game.

 

Academy Lounge

The Academy’s 9,200-square-foot facility is designed to offer more than just an exceptional place to practice and improve your game. It also features a comfortable and inviting lounge area with multiple televisions and bar service, creating the perfect setting to relax, socialize, and enjoy time with fellow golfers. Whether you are unwinding after a practice session, waiting for a lesson, or simply enjoying the atmosphere before heading out to play, the lounge provides a welcoming space that completes the overall Golf Academy experience.
